‘Unhinged’ – Lindsey Graham Gets Dragged After He Calls For Putin’s Assassination

Republicans Marjorie Taylor Greene and Ted Cruz slammed Senator Lindsey Graham’s “unhinged” remarks after the South Carolina Senator called for Vladimir Putin’s assassination.

Graham on Thursday put out a public plea for somebody to ‘take out’ the Russian President.

On social media, he openly wondered if there were a Brutus or Colonel Stauffenberg’s who could do the deed.

Some readers will be familiar with the fact that Brutus assisted in assassinating Julius Caesar. Stauffenberg, however, was responsible for the notorious July Plot.

“The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out,” wrote Graham. “You would be doing your country – and the world – a great service.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene Slams Lindsey Graham

Graham continued his challenge to the Russian people in a subsequent message.

“The only people who can fix this are the Russian people. Easy to say, hard to do,” he admitted. 

“Unless you want to live in darkness for the rest of your life, be isolated from the rest of the world in abject poverty, and live in darkness you need to step up to the plate.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene lambasted Graham over his comments, saying they were “dangerous” and “unhinged.”

“While we are all praying for peace & for the people of Ukraine, this is irresponsible, dangerous & unhinged,” she replied. “We need leaders with calm minds & steady wisdom.”

“Not bloodthirsty warmongering politicians trying to tweet tough by demanding assassinations.”

Ted Cruz Joins Greene

Greene wasn’t the only lawmaker to tear into Lindsey Graham for calling on Putin’s assassination.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) called Graham’s proposal an “exceptionally bad idea” and encouraged further major economic sanctions to be imposed on Russia.

“We should not be calling for the assassination of heads of state,” he added.

Representative Ilhan Omar (D) also levied criticism toward Graham, saying his comments “aren’t helpful.”

“I really wish our members of Congress would cool it and regulate their remarks as the administration works to avoid WWIII,” she tweeted.

Graham has no intentions of backing away from his call for Putin’s assassination, however.

In an interview on Fox & Friends, he continued to suggest the only way for Putin’s reign of terror to end is to have “Elliott Ness or Wyatt Earp in Russia – the Russian Spring so to speak – where people rise up and take him down.”

It is becoming more common to place the burden on Russians.

Earlier this week, former U.S. ambassador to Russia under President Obama, Michael McFaul, deleted and later apologized for a tweet in which he proclaimed there are no “innocent” Russians because they need to stand up and fight Putin.

“There are no more ‘innocent’ ‘neutral’ Russians anymore,” he wrote. “Everyone has to make a choice — support or oppose this war. It is essential that 100,000 people protest against the war, and not only thousands. Putin can’t arrest you all!”
