Ex-President Donald Trump stated Wednesday that he would withdraw his endorsement of Mo Brooks (Alabama GOP Congressman), who many consider to be the proTrump, America First candidate running for the U.S. Senate seat to replace retired Sen. Richard Shelby.
Trump’s endorsement has been considered a key factor in Alabama’s Republican senate primary – and the un-endorsement appears to be over Brooks suggesting that Republicans “move on” from the 2020 election.

Trump: ‘I am hereby withdrawing my Endorsement of Mo Brooks for the Senate’
Trump stated that Brooks was suffering from recent polls, and that he is not focusing enough on the fraud the ex-president believes in 2020.
“When I endorsed Mo Brooks, he took a 44-point lead and was unstoppable,” Trump said in a statement. “He then hired a new campaign staff who ‘brilliantly’ convinced him to ‘stop talking about the 2020 Election.”
“He listened to them,” Trump lamented.
“Mo Brooks of Alabama made a horrible mistake recently when he went ‘woke’ and stated, referring to the 2020 Presidential Election Scam, ‘Put that behind you, put that behind you,’ despite the fact that the Election was rife with fraud and irregularities,” Trump said.

Trump continued, “Very sad but, since he decided to go in another direction, so have I, and I am hereby withdrawing my Endorsement of Mo Brooks for the Senate.”
The former president said he would endorse another candidate in the “near future.”
At major issue seems to be Brooks’ legal advice to Trump that the 2020 election could not be reversed, regardless of whether or not there was fraud involved.
Polls, Brooks originally held a significant lead over senate primary candidate Katie Boyd Britt, who is Shelby’s former chief of staff. Shelby stated that he supports Britt.
Brooks was leading by over 30 percent as late December 2021.
But polls conducted in March found Brooks to be third and with less support than 20 percent.
This is a terrible move. Trump has endorsed losers that congratulated Biden in Early November, yet Mo Brooks, one of the best candidates running this cycle, slips up once (out of context, even)—and he loses the endorsement to a neocon? Absolutely moronic on Trump’s part. https://t.co/emP2OmtRhi

Brooks Campaign: ‘I wish President Trump wouldn’t fall for McConnell’s ploys, but, once again, he has’
Brooks’ campaign reacted to Trump’s withdrawal of his endorsement, accusing Trump that he was manipulated by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
“It’s disappointing that, just like in 2017, President Trump lets Mitch McConnell manipulate him again,” Brooks’ campaign said in a statement.
“Every single negative TV ad against our campaign has come from McConnell and his allies,” Brooks campaign insisted. “I wish President Trump wouldn’t fall for McConnell’s ploys, but, once again, he has.”
“Katie Britt’s campaign is supported and funded by McConnell allies, and she’s still a high taxing, open borders, cheap foreign labor, Chamber of Commerce lobbyist,” it continued, describing Brooks as the “only proven America First candidate” in the Republican primary.
