Joy Behar Blasts Republicans’ ‘Traitorous Behavior,’ Calls GOP Position On Russia-Ukraine Crisis ‘Fascism’

On Wednesday, ABC’s Joy Behar blasted Republicans for their reaction to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, even saying that conservatives’ criticism of President Joe Biden was comparable to “fascism.”

Behar made her remarks on her popular talk show “The View.”

Behar on GOP: ‘The traitorous behavior that’s going on right now on the right is just, it’s unbelievable to me’

In the segment about Ukraine, co-host Whoopi Goldberg said, “Biden vowed to impose crippling sanctions that would cut off Russia from Western finance, but you-know-who seems to be so much more impressed Putins’ moves on this.”

Goldberg then shared audio of Donald Trump “praising” Putin as a “genius” for declaring Ukraine “independent.”

Trump said in a clip of a recent interview, “I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said this is genius. Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine–of Ukraine. Putin declared it independent. Oh, that’s wonderful. So Putin is now saying it’s independent – a large section of Ukraine.”

“I said how smart is that?” Trump continued. “And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s the strongest peace force. That could be used at our southern border. That’s the strongest peace force I’ve ever seen. There were more army tanks than I’ve ever seen. They’re gonna keep peace all right.”

Trump also called Putin “very savvy,” but added that a Ukraine invasion would not have occurred if he was still president.

Behar replied to Trump’s comments, calling them “the dumbest remark” and said that she believed many Republicans are “buying this lie.”

Behar said, “A lot of people in the GOP right now are buying this lie, that he would have solved the problem. He would have said, ‘Here. Let’s take Ukraine. And I’m gonna build a casino there any minute now.’”

“The traitorous behavior that’s going on right now on the right is just, it’s unbelievable to me,” Behar proclaimed.

She accused Republicans then of accepting fascism.

“Having grown up in a country that fought this fascism, we are now becoming the people that we fought!” Behar contended.
