If COVID-19 Is Over for Congress, It Should Be Over for School Children Too

They were nearly all unmasked when members of Congress and the Cabinet entered the U.S. House Chamber to hear President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address on Tuesday night. Cursory attempts at social distancing were quickly abandoned—and after Biden finished his speech, the country’s highest elected officials shook hands and hugged and breathed in each other’s faces like it was 2019.

Biden’s remarks themselves signaled the end of COVID-19.

Biden stated that COVID-19 no longer needs to control his or her life because of the improvements made in the past year.

Amazing that the president made this concession, especially considering how recent it was one month ago, many Democrats and their allies in the mainstream media assailed Republican-controlled municipalities for easing up on pandemic restrictions. But The Democratic strategists were convinced by focus group polling that Americans were losing patience. They then abruptly switched their course. The fact that vaccines were able to withstand the severe cases of the omicron surge was also a help.

But it’s worth repeating that even now—with the Biden administration heralding a nearly universal return to normal, and Democratic officials celebrating with few masks in sight—there remains a key U.S. demographic languishing under strict mask mandates: school children in some cities controlled by Democrats.

In fact, on Tuesday, Muriel Bowser, the Mayor of Washington D.C. announced that no more students will be required to wear masks while outside. Masks will still be required, this is obvious. Inside Schools

Although it’s great that kids can now remove their masks during sports, or outdoor recess it’s frustrating that officials have taken so long to do the same. The majority of school days are spent indoors where D.C. student’s spend their time. still Expected to wear masks

This is not a valid reason. There is no risk to young people from a negative COVID-19 outcome. Unvaccinated children and teenagers are more protected than those who have been vaccinated. They’re safer than the U.S. House of Representatives, Senate and Supreme Court members (average ages: 57 and 62 respectively), Children shouldn’t be required to use masks during Biden’s State of the Union.

Biden seemed to be able to see that pandemic restrictions can and should be dropped immediately by schools.

“Our schools have opened,” he stated. He said, “Let’s keep it this way. All our children need to go to school.
With 75 percent of adults fully vaccinated, and 77% fewer hospitalizations, Americans are able to take off their masks and return to work or the classroom and continue moving forward.

This category—most Americans—must certainly include young people. Schools that continue to use forcible concealment should be aware.
