Aliquippa School District in Pennsylvania has stated that they will begin to search students’ backpacks and confiscate any “excessive” snacks. The school district stated that each student would be allowed to have one bag of chips (4 ounces) and one drink of 20 ounces or less. The Facebook posting was removed following hundreds of negative feedback, however the policy is still in effect. Superintendent Phillip Woods explained that some students bring snacks to school for sale or trading, so the policy was put in place to curb this behavior.
