Biden Calls Trump And Supporters ‘Twisted’ And ‘Un-American,’ Then Says He’ll Unite America

Joe Biden unleashed a fiery speech on the anniversary of the Capitol riot in which he blasted former President Trump and his supporters for having a “twisted” view of events from that day and suggested they are “un-American” for trying to suppress votes. He declared that he was going to unite America.

Biden used the phrase “former President” 16 times during his speech and immediately went on the attack against Trump by accusing him of having “rallied the mob to attack” that day.

He proceeded to slam Trump for continuing to spread election lies “because his bruised ego matters more to him than our democracy or our Constitution.”

Biden stated that former President Barack Obama’s supporters pushed the idea that there was an insurrection on Election Day. The message suggested that the struggle for democracy occurred on January 6th.

“That the riot that took place on January 6 is a true expression of the will of the people. Can you think of a more twisted way to look at this country, to look at America?” Biden asked.

Biden Injures Trump, Claims He Wants America to Unite

Biden shifted the focus of his speech in favor of Democratic efforts to nationalize elections, expand voting by mail access and push for democrats to do so.

“Right now, in state after state, new laws are being written not to protect the vote, but to deny it. Not only to suppress the vote, but to subvert it,” Biden said.

After boasting about how a record 150million Americans had voted for the 2020 election, despite the fact that there was an ongoing pandemic in America at that time, he made this claim. If Republicans are trying to suppress votes, they’ve been doing a terrible job.

“The former president and his supporters have decided the only way for them to win is to suppress your vote and subvert our elections. It’s wrong,” the President continued. “It’s undemocratic. And frankly, it’s un-American.”

The President at one point accused Trump and his supporters of having “held a dagger at the throat of America and American democracy” and denied they had gone to the Capitol as patriots.

Even though he made insults to those who support him and expressed concern about the integrity of his election, Biden said that he would unite America.

“I will defend this nation, not allow no one to place a dagger at the throat of democracy,” he said. “We will make sure the will of the people is heard, that the battle prevails, not violence, that authority of this nation will always be peacefully transferred.”

Biden added, “I believe the power of the presidency and the purpose is to unite this nation. Do not divide it. To lift us up, and not to tear us apart. It’s about us, not about me.”

If that’s your belief, you’re not doing it right.

Trump Fires Back

Donald Trump issued a statement indicating that, contrary to Biden’s claims to seek unity, he is actually attacking him and his supporters as a means to further divide America.

Trump accused Biden of using “my name today to try to further divide America.”

“This political theater is all just a distraction for the fact Biden has completely and totally failed,” he added in a statement interspersed with further unproven claims of election fraud.

“The Democrats want to own this day of January 6th so they can stoke fears and divide America,” he said. “I say, let them have it because America sees through their lies and polarizations.”

Senator Lindsey Graham, R-SC, eviscerated Biden for his remarks attacking Trump’s supporters and not trying to unify America.

“What brazen politicization of January 6 by President Biden,” Graham tweeted.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris’s speeches today were an effort to resurrect a failed presidency more than marking the anniversary of a dark day in American history,” he added.
