Defining Antisemitism Down at Hunter College

Reporting by The Jewish Week:

Are Hunter College’s social work schools coddling Antisemitism or part of an institution deeply committed to protecting Jews against prejudice?

This question was raised after a pro Israel organization filed a federal lawsuit alleging that there is a hostile environment on campus for Jewish students at New York City’s Silberman School of Social Work and the school.

While I do not have direct knowledge about the Hunter College situation, this does not make it any less worrying.

The Jewish Week was told by a student leader that she is not subject to overt antisemitism but that Jewish students feel uncomfortable discussing Israel with them for fear of backlash and that sometimes anti-Israel rhetoric can veer into antisemitism.
