Nearly 650 workers at Ascension Providence Hospital, Novi in Michigan were denied religious exemptions for COVID-19 vaccinations.
Ascension is a Catholic non-profit system that was started in 1997. In 2019, Ascension ranked second in America in terms of number of hospitals.
Ascension demands that every associate be protected against COVID-19. Ascension states on their website that they will offer associates an exempt process similar to how it handles the annual influenza vaccine.
Ascension will insist that every associate be immunized against COVID-19. All associates, regardless of whether they are employed or not, as well physicians, advanced practice providers and doctors; volunteers entering Ascension facility facilities; and all vendors.

This will allow us to meet the requirement and complete our vaccine series by Nov. 12th 2021. This timing is aligned with Ascension’s annual influenza vaccination requirement and we will follow a similar implementation process. Ascension provides an exemption process to its members for those who are unable to receive vaccinations due to medical conditions or strong religious beliefs. Additionally, the requirement will be enforced according to Ascension’s collective bargaining arrangements between Ascension and our unions.
Gateway Pundit received a call from an Ascension employee. Here’s an excerpt from the email:
Current employee at Ascension Hospital in Novi MI. It is Catholic. Many others, including myself, have requested religious exemptions from the Covid vaccine. There are approximately 650 Ascension employees on the message board. They have all requested religious exemptions, but none of them has been granted. There is none! According to my knowledge, some Henry Ford employees (non-Catholic hospitals) and Beaumont Hospital staff have received some religious exemptions. Ascension cannot claim to be Catholic institutions if they accept all religious exemptions. If you reject ALL, it is completely unacceptable. I’d like to bring light to this situation. Please, help me.
