Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed legislation mandating that high school students must pass a financial literacy class before graduation.
The bill – known as the Dorothy L. Hukill Financial Literacy Act – passed the Florida House unanimously by a vote count of 117-0 and did the same in the state Senate with a 39-0 vote.
“Financial literacy is an important life skill for a student to have,” said DeSantis in announcing the bill’s signing.
“Ensuring our students have the skills to manage their finances and perhaps one day own a business will pay dividends for our state,” he added.
For the school year 2023-2024, this education requirement will be in effect. It will teach students how to manage debt and bank accounts and navigate credit scores and taxes.

In addition, the Stop WOKE Act allowed parents to bring lawsuits against schools who teach critical race theory.

DeSantis plans to sign the Stop WOKE Act, which was approved by the Florida legislature this month.
“In Florida, we are taking a stand against the state-sanctioned racism that is critical race theory,” DeSantis said upon voicing support for the bill in December.
“We won’t allow Florida tax dollars to be spent teaching kids to hate our country or to hate each other.”

DeSantis On Fire
Aside from eliminating CRT from Florida schools, DeSantis also raised the ire of liberals by passing a bill they’ve incorrectly dubbed the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill.
Teachers and school districts are prohibited from discussing sexuality or gender identity from kindergarten to the third grade.
“If you are out protesting this bill, you are by definition putting yourself in favor of injecting sexual instruction to 5, 6, and 7 year-old kids. I think most people think that’s wrong. I think parents, especially think that’s wrong.” – @GovRonDeSantis pic.twitter.com/OC284S35PO

DeSantis should sign the bill within hours. At Tuesday’s press conference, DeSantis annihilated all critics.
“Understand, if you are out protesting this bill you are by definition putting yourself in favor of injecting sexual instruction to 5-, 6- and 7-year-old kids,” he said. “I think most people think that’s wrong. I think parents especially think that’s wrong.”
By allowing men to compete in women’s sports, the NCAA is destroying opportunities for women, making a mockery of its championships, and perpetuating a fraud.

DeSantis also issued a proclamation this week declaring female collegiate swimmer Emma Weyant the “rightful winner” of the NCAA championship 500-yard freestyle event over transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.
The declaration blasts the NCAA for allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports.
“By allowing men to compete in women’s sports, the NCAA is destroying opportunities for women,” he said.
