The Sumner Canary Lecture will be delivered by the Honorable Neomi Rao on Thursday, March 3. It is at the Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Judge Rao’s lecture will examine the political and moral basis of positive law. It will also discuss how textualism is a way to interpret statutory laws. The U.S. Court of Appeals, D.C. currently has Judge Rao as a judge. Circuit. She was previously the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs Administrator. In addition to her work for the White House Counsel’s Office and the Senate Judiciary Committee, she has also worked as an administrator. Her tenured position at the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School was where she established the Boyden Gray Center for the Study of the Administrative States. Additionally, she clerked on behalf of Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson at the U.S. Court of Appeals of the Fourth Circuit as well as Justice Clarence Thomas at the Supreme Court.
