“Bullying and Harassing Behavior Are Prohibited on Social Media Platforms,” Says Alaska Senate Bill

Alaska bill SB214 was sponsored by Lora Rebold and Mia Costello.

[B]Social media platforms prohibit harassing or ullying behaviour. The social media platform must prevent harassment and bullying behavior. It shall also provide the user of a page with tools to help him or her establish and enforce rules for decorum that will prevent harassing and bullying behavior.

It is possible to view requiring sites to allow users to remove comments from pages or block others from commenting further as a content-neutral constitutional requirement. However, it cannot be closed and locked. The bill, however, would prohibit bullying and harassment behavior and require platforms to make unspecified steps to stop it.
