Former San Angelo police chief Tim Vasquez was found guilty by a jury of accepting a bribe from an agent for an organization that received federal funds. He also faces three charges of honest service mail fraud. Vasquez persuaded officials in San Angelo to continue a contract for the radio communication system with San Antonio-based Dailey-Wells Communications. He kept it secret from the other officials that Dailey Wells had hired his Earth, Wind, and Fire cover group Funky Munky to perform at company events ever since 2007. Dailey-Wells then hired Funky Munky for 10 shows, which cost them $84,000. Other performances during that period earned the band $2,100 per show.
