AOC: ‘I think we will return to Jim Crow. I think that’s what we risk’

AOC stated to the publication that the United States’ democracy could be gone in ten years.

“What we risk is having a government that perhaps postures as a democracy, and may try to pretend that it is, but isn’t,” Ocasio-Cortez said, claiming that “white-nationalist, reactionary politics” is “starting to grow into a critical mass.”

Then, she foresaw the return to Jim Crow segregationist laws.

“I think we will look like ourselves,” the Democrat said. “I think we will return to Jim Crow. I think that’s what we risk.”

Ocasio Cortez cited election integrity laws Republicans in red states, such as Texas and Florida. She considers them oppressive.

“You have it already happening in Texas, where Jim Crow-style disenfranchisement laws have already been proposed,” AOC said. “You had members of the state legislature, just a few months ago, flee the state in order to prevent such voting laws from being passed.”

Republicans Want To ‘replace teaching history with institutionalized propaganda from white-nationalist perspectives in our schools’

Ocasio-Cortez was referring to the Texas Democratic leaders legislature who left their state last summer to protest of the GOP’s efforts to strengthen election integrity.

AOC attacked the criticisms by conservatives and defended critical race theories.

“You have the complete erasure and attack on our own understanding of history, to replace teaching history with institutionalized propaganda from white-nationalist perspectives in our schools,” she added.

“This is what the scaffolding of Jim Crow was,” Ocasio-Cortez claimed.
