We think about how amazing it would be to study there. We imagine living in a city like that, surrounded by people with similar interests and aspirations. But what happens when all our expectations turn out not to be enough? What if we didn’t get into that school after all? Scenarios like these are painful but necessary experiences we must go through in life because they teach us the importance of having something much more important than just getting into the right college: our aspirations and values.

What is an expectation?

An expectation is something that we want to happen, and we expect it to happen. So, for example, if one applies to a university hoping to get accepted and then gets rejected—that would be an example of having expectations. Expectations are sometimes great and helpful, and sometimes they can be harmful. When they become harmful, they lead us to believe that we deserve something, and if we don’t get it, we feel like our lives are not going the way they should. We feel like we are missing out on something we deserve in life. When we are younger, our expectations are often shaped by our environment and the people around us, and we don’t always look deeply into what we truly value and want in life. And so, as we get older and wiser, the best thing we can do is look into ourselves and see what it is in life that we truly value.

How do expectations hurt us?

In other words, we are so focused on the fact that our lives are missing something—that we don’t focus on what we do have. And so, even though we might have a lot of success and joy in life because we have these expectations, we don’t see our abundance and appreciate what we do have.

The flip side of having high expectations

Expectations are often looked at as negative things in life. But they don’t have to be. Having high expectations can be a great thing. It can help one to push himself to be better, and it can help one sustain his motivation and energy in life. Having high expectations for oneself and what one wants to achieve in life can help one feel more empowered. It can help one feel more purposeful in life and help us feel more motivated to keep going in life. High expectations can also help one to push himself to achieve more because it gives one a goal.

The joys of having aspirational values

Looking at the lives of many famous and successful people, we will find that they all have something in common. They all have values and principles they live their lives by. They have something that they are very passionate about. And they have something that they are deeply committed to in life. Aspirational values will help us focus on the essential things in life. It will help us to keep our life balanced and help us avoid getting caught up in the little things that don’t matter in the long run. Having values also helps us stay true to ourselves. When people are authentic and genuine, it helps them connect with others deeper. It helps them create real and lasting relationships in life.

How can we maintain our aspirations?
Jordan Sudberg believes that the best way to maintain our aspirations is by looking inside ourselves and asking what our actual value in life is. It is essential to go beyond just thinking about what one wants to do in life and why one wants to do it. It is also essential to distance us from people and things that don’t value the same things in life that one does.
