A police chase started when officers observed a stolen vehicle in Capitol Hill early Sunday morning ended in Rainier Beach, with three suspects arrested and two firearms recovered.

According to an SPD Blotter report, officers spotted the vehicle — reported stolen Saturday in an armed carjacking — in the 300 block of Melrose Avenue East around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. As officers were readying for a “high-risk stop,” the stolen car took off.

Once in the Rainier Beach neighborhood, police report the three occupants in the stolen vehicle fled on foot, one suspect throwing a firearm as he ran. A second handgun was found in the back seat.

Police dog Ziva was brought in to track the suspects, who were found hiding under a parked car in the 8700 block of Hamlet Avenue South, according to the blotter.

One adult was booked into King County Jail, while two juvenile suspects were taken to the Youth Services Center. The investigation is ongoing.
