The Polyclinic and Swedish Medical Center have partnered to open the largest independent surgery center in the Pacific Northwest on Swedish’s First Hill campus.

The First Hill Surgery Center is a 36,000-square-foot facility with 12 operating rooms — two dedicated to eye surgery — 32 postoperative rooms and more than 100 dedicated surgery staff.

FHSC will replace The Polyclinic’s existing outpatient surgery center, providing breast, eye, orthopedic, plastic and urology surgery procedures, among others, according to a news release. Up to 15,000 surgeries are expected to be performed at the First Hill Surgery Center annually.

“First Hill Surgery Center is focused on providing an excellent patient experience,” said FHSC executive director Michael McClain in a news release. “Our mission is to foster healing in a safe environment that respects the important role of caregivers, family and friends, while providing exceptional service and value for patients. To do that, we’ve hired highly skilled staff, and place a high value on employee satisfaction. Our experienced team, combined with a state-of-the-art facility translates into outstanding care and outstanding value for patients.”

FHSC is at 1101 Madison St., Suite 200. More information is available at
