Ron DeSantis Launches Himself Into (At Least) Second Place For 2024 – So Far

Political nerds are well aware that the race to the White House in 2024 will start immediately after the November midterm elections. While the main question for Republicans right now is whether former President Donald Trump will run, Florida Governor is becoming more prominent. Ron DeSantis.

McClatchy pointed out that while the fiery conservative is widely known in conservative circles already, McClatchy points to the fact his name has been expanding quickly nationwide with all of the people needed for a White House run.

People are talking

Former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is also a popular conservative who recently shared a story with McClatchy

“The name I hear most frequently talking to people is Ron DeSantis. They said that DeSantis is the younger, more youthful, and better version of Trump. That’s what I hear repeatedly.”

And while there seems to be no middle ground where Donald Trump is concerned – there are either strong supporters or the never-Trump crowd – there might be an area where DeSantis could have a unifying effect.

But conservatives could argue that DeSantis has been promoted in the media. because it would decrease Trump’s power. Trump is Public Enemy No. 1.

Amazing Polling Data

Ron DeSantis’ polling has been fairly stable. At the Conservative Political Action Conference, (CPAC), their annual presidential straw poll showed that Trump had won 58% to 28% over DeSantis in February.

However, the situation had drastically changed in just three months. DeSantis was able to take the lead at the Wisconsin Republican State Convention in May by just 38% to 32%.

Recent New York Times/Siena College surveys showed that 49% of potential GOP primary voters would support Trump. Ron DeSantis was second with 25%.

As for the GOP establishment, CNBC recently reported that the ongoing January 6 Committee hearings have made several high dollar GOP donors skittish about Trump (as if they weren’t all along.) According to the report, anonymous speakers expressed a desire for Trump’s nomination.

DeSantis does have a share of big dollar donors but DeSantis also has many small-dollar donors. About a third of his donations come from outside Florida. This amounts to approximately $50 million.

DeSantis In 2024 Or 2028?

Donald Trump clearly ruled DeSantis out as a possible running mate for 2024. In a recent interview with Newsmax’s Rob Finnerty, Trump laid it out as a definite possibility. Finnerty asked, “Could you envision a world, sir, where there is a Trump-DeSantis ticket?”

Trump replied, “Well, I get along with him. I was very responsible for his success, because I endorsed him and he went up like a rocket ship.” Even back in 2021, Trump was asked if he would consider a Trump/DeSantis ticket. His response was, “sure I would.”

Many Republicans are still deciding between Trump or DeSantis. However, there have been other names mentioned such as Mike Pence (ex-Vice President), Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Sens. Former Governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley and Rick Scott both from Arkansas. Nikki Haley.

Conservatives who support Trump and DeSantis appear divided on whether DeSantis should stand up against Trump in 2024 or wait until 2028, when he might have more clarity.

Walker says he would be fine with DeSantis going for it in ’24. He said, “It’ll be good to have a debate about the future of the party and the future of the country.”

Mind blowingly funny, perhaps?
