Former New York City Police Department Officer Joseph Stokes was found guilty by the courts of felony grand theft and official misconduct. Jose Aracena who was a NYPD officer at that time, was found guilty of misdemeanor petite larceny as well. Prosecutors claimed that Stokes received $4,800 while Aracena received $220 from an individual they pulled over for drunk driving. The driver, however was an undercover officer of the police who was part in an integrity sting.
