Trump Slams Russia’s Invasion Of Ukraine As ‘Holocaust’ – Calls On Russia To Stop The Killing

Former President Donald Trump slammed the Russian invasion of Ukraine on Wednesday. He said that Russia must immediately stop fighting. He called the situation a “holocaust.”

During the interview with Fox Business Channel’s Maria Bartiromo, Trump stated that the Russians must “stop killing people,” and that he thought there could be some sort of an agreement between the two nations to end the conflict.

In depth interview

Bartiromo was open to discussing many subjects, but Russia-Ukraine conflict was the most important. Trump stated that, “something could be done with [Russia] right now.”

When Bartiromo pressed him for an answer, he said, “Well, you have to work out a deal. These people must stop being killed. They’re killing all of these people, and they have to stop it, and they have to stop it now.” He added, “Putin is playing Biden like a drum and it’s not a pretty thing to watch.”

Trump continued with harsh words for President Joe Biden’s handling of the crisis, saying,

“But they don’t respect the United States and the United States is like, I don’t know, they’re not doing anything about it. This is a — this is a holocaust. This is a horrible thing that’s happening. You’re witnessing and you’re seeing it on television every night.”

NATO And Ukraine

Donald Trump did not say whether he thinks that Ukraine should become a member of NATO, simply saying it would be a “decision that would have to be made.” He also said that, “Right now, it would be a lot easier to say yes than it would have been six months ago.”

Trump praised Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying, “He’s a brave man, he’s hanging in.” He also referenced his 2019 phone call with Zelensky and said he was “very impressed by him.”

Different Presidents Have Different Results

Trump repeatedly stated that Putin wouldn’t have attacked Ukraine if he was still the President. Recent Harris poll from Harvard Center for American Political Studies (CAPS- Harris) may support this assertion.

The poll showed that 62% of Americans believe the Russian invasion of Ukraine would never have happened on Donald Trump’s watch.

A poll revealed that 59% believe Putin selected his timing to show Joe Biden weakness.

Trump also called the Biden administration’s response to the invasion with sanctions a “pretty weak statement.”
