Dee Snider, lead singer for the popular 80’s heavy metal group Twisted Sister, is throwing his support behind Ukrainians using his hit song ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ as they fight invading Russians.
On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin directed an invasion of Ukraine.
The Ukrainians’ battle cry of “We’re Not Gonna Take It”, I absolutely support. My great-grandfather was Ukrainian before the country was absorbed by the USSR following WW2. These people can’t allow this to happen again. #FUCKRUSSIA

Snider: ‘I absolutely approve’
There are reports that Twisted Sister’s 1984 song is being used to literally rally the troops by the Ukrainians. Dee Snider was quick to react.
“I absolutely approve of Ukrainians using ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ as their battlecry,” Snider tweeted. “My grandfather was Ukrainian, before it was swallowed up by the USSR after WW2. This can’t happen to these people again! #F***RUSSIA.”

Snider has long been a popular cult figure – from early days on MTV to writing and starring in the cult horror film Strangeland.
He’s also had quite the reality TV career – with a family reality show on A&E, an appearance on “Celebrity Wife Swap,” and competing on “Celebrity Apprentice.”
On Sunday, Snider shared another tweet about the Ukraine war, explaining why he supports Ukraine’s use of his song, but did not offer the same support to those protesting coronavirus mandates.
It’s quite the contrary.
“People are asking me why I endorsed the use of ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ for the Ukrainian people and did not for the anti-maskers,” Snider wrote. “Well, one use is for a righteous battle against oppression; the other is a infantile feet stomping against an inconvenience.”
Many people are wondering why I supported the “We’re not Gonna Take It!” slogan for the Ukrainian population but opposed it for anti-maskers. The one is for fighting oppression righteously; the second is to protest an inconvenience.
