Robert Shaner of Rochester Community Schools, Michigan admitted that school administrators monitored social media accounts from parents protesting the closing of schools. Shaner said that he had contacted some of the parents, and called the police to report on one parent calling for demonstrations in private houses. Shaner claimed that he believed this was a threat. Shaner’s deposition was part of a parent lawsuit. Elena Dinverno (one of the victims) claimed she was dismissed after she admitted to her school that she had been part of a group which threatened school systems.
