The American Medical Association Should Help Patients. Instead, It’s Policing Language.

American Medical Association advises doctors to use woke language. A 54-page document has been issued by the American Medical Association. It tells doctors not to say “equality”, but “equity.” Do not say “minority”, but “historically marginalized.”

Much of the AMA’s advisory sounds like Marxism: “Expose…property rights…Individualism is problematic…Corporations…limit prospects for good health…people underpaid and forced into poverty as a result of banking policies.”

It is too much for even some left-leaning people, such as Matthew Yglesias whose article on AMA attracted my attention.

“Can you even imagine someone doing it?” My new video features Yglesias asking the question. “What would happen if you were in a clinical setting, and somebody starts giving you this lecture about landowners?…Nobody practices medicine like that, and it wouldn’t be helpful to anybody!”

He pointed out that, while doctors are now instructed by the AMA to label poor areas “systematically divested”, not “poor,” they have long lobbied for such things. HurtPoor people can restrict the number of doctors.

The U.S. is home to fewer doctors per capita than any other country. Austria boasts twice the number of doctors per person.

Yglesias states, “We have some of the highest-paid and most scarcest doctors in the world.” It’s no coincidence.

Medical practice was legal in America back years ago. This was not something licensed doctors liked. The AMA was born.

They are a trade organization, according to Yglesias. “They…advance the interests of their members.”

Similar to the dock workers or teachers union.

Yglesias states that the trade association is called a “trade association” rather than a “union”. But it has never been any different.”

The AMA was founded in 1986. You can make it smallerEnrollment in medical school to reduce the “surplus” doctor. The government even paid hospitals for 1997. It is notTo train doctors

Today the AMA supports laws that prevent doctors from practicing in America from being qualified. A residency program must be completed by foreign doctors. Their practice abroad is not eligible for credit.

These rules help America avoid a doctor shortage. The average doctor can earn over $200,000 annually due to this shortage.

Doctors who are well-paid can have a hard time choosing where to work. Yglesias explains that this is why it can be difficult to find a doctor living in rural America.

Rural areas have numerous Targets and Walmarts, as there is no restriction on large stores. Walmart and Target are competing to reach as many people as possible.

The same goes for restaurants. Hours that doctors can work are flexible.

The AMA declined to interview me about it. The AMA sent us a statement stating they had approved “approximately twenty new medical schools”.

Why can’t the AMA or its “Liaison Committee on Medical Education”, approve new schools? My role is not to approve TV journalists.

The AMA’s statement claims it supports “increasing…the number of physicians.” This statement is long overdue if it holds true. An Annals of Internal Medicine study found that 7200 more lives could have been saved if there was more primary care doctors.

People turn to nurses when doctors are not available. But AMA lobbyists are pushing for legislation that requires nurses to be supervised and monitored by a doctor.

“That makes it much harder to open retail health clinics…[that offer]Yglesias states that it is a low cost, convenient option for treatment. “Nurses have a lot of training…there’s a lot of useful stuff that they can do.”

Poor people are most affected by the AMA lobbying.

Talking about it is not something the AMA enjoys. It is now obsessed with politically correct language. Doctors are told to say “ex-cons” instead of “formerly incarcerated”. Do not use the word “slaves”, instead, say “enslaved persons”.

It is hard to believe that this would help patients.

Yglesias concluded that “Getting obsessed with language politics can be a great way to present yourself as good guys without having to address your own responsibility for creating these problems.”
