Democratic Representative Ruben Gallego suggested officials seize trucks involved in the upcoming American version of the ‘Freedom Convoy’ trucker protest and sell them.
Gallego, perhaps caught up in the excitement Democrats felt in watching Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s crackdown on the Canadian truckers convoy this past week, made the remark on social media.
The Political Insider reported recently that multiple groups are setting off from California this week.
An NBC report indicates truckers “plan to shut down the Beltway Wednesday.”
Gallego contributed to the report, and he also offered his views on the best course of action.
“Perfect time to impound and give the trucks to small trucking companies looking to expand their business,” he tweeted.

Several Twitter users pointed out that Ruben Gallego’s proposal to seize trucks amounts to simple theft.
Conservative radio show host Dana Loesch replied, “Also known as theft.”

“A sitting member of congress wants to steal protestors’ trucks and redistribute,” one woman responded.
“Siding with foreign dictators,” writes Townhall columnist Kurt Schlichter.
Schlichter is likely referencing North America’s newest dictator in Trudeau, who this week sent law enforcement out to quash protests using horses, arrested convoy leaders, and froze the bank accounts of those involved.

Jim Watson, Ottawa mayor, suggested that Gallego use the same approach regarding protestors who came from Canada.
“We actually have the ability to confiscate those vehicles and sell them,” Watson said. “And I want to see them sold. I don’t want the return to these people who’ve been causing such frustration and angst in our community.”

Fox News interviewed Derek Brouwer from Canada. Brouwer stated that the truck he was driving had indeed been taken and that his bank and personal accounts have been frozen.
“They’ve taken my truck – I don’t know where it is – and on Friday, they locked up my personal and my trucking business accounts,” he claimed.

Meanwhile, law enforcement have re-installed fencing around the U.S. Capitol as reports of American truckers in the ‘freedom convoy’ head to the nation’s capital.
National Guard soldiers were deployed in order to maintain an eye and to set up blocks to discourage protesters.
Officials have also recruited tow truck drivers who told Fox News “they’ve been instructed to clear any vehicles that illegally block the D.C. streets.”

Bob Bolus, who plans to lead a convoy from Scranton, Pennsylvania said, “We will be along the Beltway where the Beltway will be shut down.”
“I’ll give you an analogy of that of a giant boa constrictor,” Bolus said. “That basically squeezes you, chokes you and it swallows you, and that’s what we’re going to do the D.C.”
