Brickbat: Memphis Blues

Kyle Maxwell sued Memphis and several Memphis police officers. He claimed that he was attacked by a dog by police and then tackled by officers mistaking him as a burglar. Maxwell, according to the suit, was living in an apartment near First Congregational Church’s north end. A number of parishioners noticed a burglary taking place in the pantry at the south end. They called the police. Prior to cops arriving, parishioners called once more to report the burglars’ departure. Police arrived and began investigating Maxwell’s north end of church. Due to pending litigation, the police declined to comment.
