Cavinder was responding to a call regarding Timothy Grant, who had trespassed in a shop. Grant was a subject of outstanding warrants, which they checked his record. Grant was arrested by the officers who tried to force him up. They claimed that they had seen Grant walking earlier. Cavinder applied his Taser to Grant while he was still on the ground. Cavinder claims Grant was resisting using force, according to his report. However, Anthony Holloway, Police Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department stated that bodycam video clearly showed Grant was resisting with force.
