FreeRossDAO, a group of over 1000 crypto investors, purchased Ross Ulbricht, Silk Road’s first non-fungible token (NFT), for 1,446 Ethereum. This was worth $6.3 Million at the time. Digital assets called NFTs live on the Blockchain with identifiable owners and historical transactions.
Ulbricht’s virtual collection of 10 artifacts at different stages in his life is called the NFT. DeathUlbricht’s prison oil painting on canvas is shown in the image below. Ulbricht is currently serving a life sentence in connection to the creation of Silk Road online marketplace, which allowed users to use cryptocurrency to purchase and sell illegal goods.
