MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski lamented the fact that ‘cancel culture’ is seemingly out of control in America, hours after learning that ABC News suspended far-left “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks.
Goldberg was fired for controversial statements about the Holocaust.
“Let’s be truthful about it because Holocaust isn’t about race,” she said earlier this week.
Incredibly, Whoopi downplayed the Holocaust because, as she argued, it was just “white people doing it to white people.”
Handed the opportunity to do damage control, Goldberg then appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and ultimately doubled down.
“I thought it was more about man’s inhumanity to man. … But people were very angry and said, ‘No, no, we are a race.’ And I understand. I felt differently,” she stated. She argued that the Nazis “lied” about their aims.
“They had issues with ethnicity, not with race, because most of the Nazis were white people, and most of the people they were attacking were white people,” she said with a straight face.
Goldberg later read an apology on air.
“Now, words matter and mine are no exception. I regret my comments, as I said, and I stand corrected,” she read. “I also stand with the Jewish people as they know and y’all know, because I’ve always done that.”

Mika Brzezinski Worried About Cancel Culture
Mika Brzezinski responds to Whoopi Goldberg Holocaust controversy. She says cancel culture is getting out of control.
“It is the worst thing that can happen in a career,” she lamented. “And so, I really feel like, especially at ‘The View,’ where their show is based on arguments, it’s based on debates, based on making moments, and they’re pushed to do that.”
“I hope there is learning for everybody on the show in terms of grace, in terms of forgiveness, in terms of more of a space of kindness,” added Brzezinski.
“This is something that is just going to, like, start getting ridiculous. I mean, if Whoopi Goldberg is canceled, that would be — that would be the end,” she continued. “I mean, that would be the end of this all — this cancel culture is getting so out of hand.”

In true hypocrite form, however, Brzezinski in a recent interview with Vivek Murthy, President Joe Biden’s Surgeon General, pushed him on the topic of censoring Joe Rogan’s podcast for alleged misinformation.
“What do you think are the best ways to push back on misinformation about COVID that continues to be aggressively pushed whether it be Joe Rogan’s podcast or all over Facebook?” she asked.
Murthy dutifully responded that enough hasn’t been done “to reduce the spread of misinformation.”

Bad … When It’s Used Against The Left
Circling back to Brzezinski’s seeming desire to cancel Rogan but not others on the left, the MSNBC host took issue with cancel culture yet again when former Hardball host Chris Matthews was forced into retirement for controversial statements he made in the past.
“I understand the important changes around this so-called ‘cancel culture.’ They’re important. They’re hard. They’re painful. And in many cases, they are necessary,” she said.
“I do wonder, at this point, though, as we move forward and we look at this and what happened here, if there might be a better way for all of us in the future where we work through this and get to a better place.”
Rogan, and other Facebook users who have views that need to be blocked are not included.

Brzezinski also didn’t denounce cancel culture when it came to former President Donald Trump either.
She organized a call with Jack Dorsey (Twitter CEO) to remove Trump from Twitter in 2020.
“Take down Trump’s account,” she demanded in an all-caps Twitter message.
.@jackWhat is the point? @TwitterIs this a portion of it? TAKE DOWN TRUMP’s ACCOUNT— the world world be safer. Retweet if you agree

Brzezinski for her part was able to escape cancel culture unharmed in 2018, despite making homophobic comments about Mike Pompeo.
.@morningmika just asked if Mike Pompeo is a “wannabe dictator’s butt boy,” as homophobic a term as I’ve heard on national morning television. @MSNBCIt was censored, but I failed. Also, the captioning closed did not include her comment. #journalism pic.twitter.com/3zK7H8evjh

In reality, she’s correct about cancel culture being out of control. However, her concern does not apply to leftists.
While you can feel outraged by Goldberg’s comments, it is possible to continue discussing the subject and maybe even educate viewers.
However, you could also use that method for Trump, Rogan, Roseanne and so on.
