Redmond police officer Andrea Churna was shot to death in 2020. She was not armed, and she was lying in a hallway just outside of her apartment. The Redmond sheriff had fired him from Whatcom County. He also killed Churna about one year prior. The Seattle TimesReports that Daniel Mendoza was a probationary deputy sheriff. However, he was fired for his inability to read laws and getting lost responding to phone calls. He also had poor writing skills. Mendoza killed Churna because she was following police orders. She was suffering from mental problems and called the police to report that someone tried to kill her.
