On Wednesday, Sen. Mike Lee blasted the Democrats’ push to get rid of the filibuster and pass their voting bill, and also commented on why he thinks Dem Sens. Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin are getting so much criticism for not going along with their party’s agenda.
Lee made his remarks during an interview on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom.”

Lee: ‘They are so desperate to silence Americans and seize power that they are willing to threaten and intimidate and make life miserable for him’
Democrats tried to pressure Manchin about his filibuster position, but he hasn’t budgered.
Lee said that Democrats are “willing to threaten and intimidate” Manchin “because they’re desperate.”
Lee told Fox news, “Well, they keep running into it because they’re desperate. They are so desperate to silence Americans and seize power that they are willing to threaten and intimidate and make life miserable for him.”
“Look, he’s got security protection around him simply because of the fact that Democrats are mad at him because he is keeping their word. Unlike them,” Lee said of Manchin.
After today’s doomed vote on voting rights, Chuck Schumer will propose a “talking filibuster” proposal: Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Silnema both indicate that they plan to sink this bill.

Lee: Democrats Are ‘beating up on Manchin and Sinema, and that’s not right’
Utah’s senator reminded viewers of the fact that Republicans and Democrats were on this same road in the past, but it was different.
As just one example, Senator Chuck Schumer once described eliminating the filibuster as a “doomsday for democracy.”
Lee continued, “Look, dozens of them signed a letter with Republicans four years ago when we were in the same situation; when we were being pressured by some in our party to nuke the filibuster. They joined us in saying it shouldn’t be nuked.”
“Now, they have no explanation other than that it could benefit them for the short term right now, and they are proceeding anyway,” Lee added.
Lee finished, “And they are beating up on Manchin and Sinema, and that’s not right.”

It’s not just their fellow senators that Manchin and Sinema have to worry about. The latter’s refusal to toe the line has TV talking heads attacking her outfits.
They have both been harassed repeatedly by far-left activists. Sinema has been famously followed to a toilet and subjected to other harassments.
Activists swarmed and tried to block Joe Manchin’s car last November.
