‘The View’s’ Sunny Hostin Says Melania Trump’s Auction ‘Is Like Basement, Tacky-Type Stuff’

On Wednesday, ‘The View’s’ Sunny Hostin claimed that the items former first lady Melania Trump would be selling in a recently announced auction would be “basement, tacky-type stuff.”

The ABC legal analyst made her remarks during a discussion on Wednesday’s program.

Hostin On Melania Trump’s Auction: ‘People always talk about Melania being so graceful and so elegant. This is like basement, tacky-type stuff’

CNN reported on Wednesday, “Melania Trump announced Tuesday morning She is hosting an auction for the white hat The Macrons visited her during which she wore the Macrons’ first French family. to the White House in 2018.”

“In a statement from her office, Trump said that, in addition to the hat, the auction lot will include a watercolor by Marc-Antoine Coulon — a French artist who did her NFT last October? — as well as what the statement defines as ‘an exclusive digital artwork NFT with motion,” CNN noted.

‘The View’s’ Hostin described Mrs. Trump’s wares differently than how they were reported by CNN.

Hostin said, “I think it’s unusual for a former first lady to try and auction off things she wore when she was in the White House. It’s so very tacky. Melania’s gracefulness and elegance is something that people talk about all the time. This is like basement, tacky-type stuff.”

“If you think about it, Michelle Obama in 2009, she donated her inaugural gown to the Smithsonian. Jackie Kennedy donated a lot of her things to museums,” Hostin continued, adding “Now you have Melania selling it for crypto money.”

Hostin Believes Mrs. Trump Is Raising Money As Part Of Her ‘Exit Plan’ From Her Husband

‘The View’ co-host seemed to think this move might mean Melania might be leaving her husband.

“It sounds a little bit like an exit plan, if I’m being honest,” Hostin said. “We know that Donald Trump is in a lot of trouble as the former disgraced, twice impeached ex-president. He is being investigated through the wazoo as his companies are.”

“He doesn’t have a lot of money, and Melania probably needs money because she really hasn’t done much in terms of a career,” Hostin said. “So I think it sounds a little bit desperate and like an exit plan.”

“She needs money,” Hostin concluded.

CNN reported of the money raised, “Trump’s office says some of the proceeds will go toward an initiative that is a part of the former first lady’s Be Best program, but it’s not clear how much will be donated.”
