Smoke ‘Em While You’ve Still Got ‘Em

New Zealand’s government stated that they plan to prohibit anyone who was born after 2008 from legally purchasing cigarettes. Around 11.6 percent of New Zealanders older than 15 smoke. Only 29 percent are Maori adults who smoke. Ayesha Verrall (Associate Minister of Health) stated, “If there is no change, it will be many decades before Maori smoking rates drop below 5 percent.” Proposed law will also limit the availability of tobacco products in stores and reduce nicotine content.
