Brickbat: Don’t Do the Crime

Samuel Scott Jr. sued Miami and five officers of the police for malicious prosecution and false imprisonment. Scott had problems when he reported that his car was stolen. The vehicle was spotted by police and chased. But the driver—described as a “Black male, bald, about 6’2″—crashed into another vehicle and escaped on foot. Scott was immediately treated by cops when they arrived. HeHe was four inches shorter and dressed in a different way than the suspect. The police arrested him, accusing him of leaving the accident scene, falsifying a report of a crime and failing to possess a concealed weapons license. All of those were dropped by the district attorney.
