Democrats Mocked For Promoting Chart Praising Biden After Gas Prices Drop 2 Cents

After a tweet where they praised President Biden’s efforts to lower gas prices by 2 cents, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee was ridiculed from all sides.

This tweet includes a chart that shows how gas prices have fallen by 2 cents in the last week.

Gasoline has increased by more than $1 per gallon in the time since Biden became president.

This decrease comes on the heels of President Biden’s announcement last week by the Department of Energy that 50 million barrels of oil would be made available from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to try and lower American prices.

“Thanks, [President Biden],” the DCCC wrote along with a chart showing gas prices over the past seven days obtained from the Federal Reserve Economic Data (FRED) website.

DCCC Tickets for Gas Price Celebration

Observers couldn’t help but note that the celebration of two cents per gallon seems a little out of touch considering all of the economic troubles currently befalling the American people.

Stretching out the data points for the chart – let’s say, back to around the time of Biden’s inauguration – shows gas prices have actually risen from $2.39 to $3.38 in late November.

The DCCC is celebrating a two-cent drop while gas prices under the man they’re thanking have gone up nearly a full dollar according to this same chart.

They’re celebrating $0.02 while Americans are facing higher prices for food and groceries, struggling to find items on empty shelves, and having difficulty traveling this holiday season due to the costs.

Even the Washington Post couldn’t get on board writing, “You’re not helping, DCCC.”

“This might be the worst defense of the Biden administration yet,” they write.

Glenn Kessler, the Washington Post fact-checker, couldn’t hide his revulsion at the feeble attempt by the DCCC to celebrate gas prices.

“What an utterly ridiculous chart,” he wrote. “Truly dumb.”

There was more mockery on both sides.

The price of living is on the rise

It’s hard not to see how the DCCC celebrates two-cent gas price savings and the White House boasting about savings of 16 cents on Fourth of July cookouts.

Although the DCCC might prefer to promote savings during a one-week bubble, gas prices have been spiraling out of control in recent years under President Biden.

The October gas prices were up 50% from last year to a record seven-year high.

The situation is so bad in Los Angeles that CBS News ran a report featuring an upset driver saying, “I can’t do this anymore.”

“Man, they’re high. Really, really high,” another driver said. “And I know it’s California but these are some really high gas prices.”

President Biden’s policies have run roughshod over the oil and gas industry through such measures as canceling the Keystone XL pipeline and suspending oil and gas leases in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
