Ain’t That a Kick in the Head

Orangeburg, South Carolina officials agreed to $650,000 for Clarence Gailyard who had been stomped upon his neck and head by a police officer. Gailyard was carrying a tape-wrapped stick which was mistaken for a firearm. The person dialed 911. Officer David Lance Dukes was there and ordered Gailyard down to the ground. Gailyard walks using a cane, has pins and rods on one leg and is unable to comply with Dukes’ orders. He then stomps his head into the ground. Dukes was later fired and charged with battery and felony assault. Gailyard has been also given an apology by the city.
