Biden Angrily Declares Illegal Immigrants Separated At The Border ‘Deserve’ Payment

President Biden on Saturday angrily insisted illegal immigrants who were separated at the border under the previous administration “deserve” payment for their troubles.

Biden was asked at a press conference about compensation for family members separated at the border.

The angry tone in his response seems to suggest frustration with those who don’t understand why illegal immigrants have a right to taxpayer money from working American citizens.

“Now here’s the thing. If in fact because of the outrageous behavior of the last administration, you coming across the border, whether it was legal or illegal, and you lost your child,” Biden said.

Then he switched to an even more hostile tone by pointing his finger at the camera and rising in voice.

“You lost your child. It’s gone. You deserve some kind of compensation, no matter what the circumstance,” he shouted. “What that will be, I have no idea.”

The Wall Street Journal in late October was the first to report that the Biden administration was considering a payment of $450,000 each to illegal immigrants who were separated from their families at the border under President Trump.

The President’s insistence that they ‘deserve’ compensation is a remarkable turnaround considering he initially claimed reports on the payments were “garbage.”

“That’s not going to happen,” he said.

Biden had made it seem like he was trying to obscure the matter. The White House changed its message to indicate that Biden meant only the payment amount and not the concept of compensation.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said President Biden is “perfectly comfortable” with providing the compensation.

The Money Savings for Taxpayers

The statement by Biden that individuals who knowingly broke the law ‘deserve’ compensation “whether it was legal or illegal, and you lost your child” doesn’t pass muster.

Is taxpayer money owed to a family if a parent robs a local convenience store?

At best, the White House’s proposal to pay settlement payments to families of illegal immigrants if their children are separated at the border has been criticized and at worst is politically divisive.

Still, they argue that they’re actually saving the American taxpayers money by making these compensation payments.

“If it saves taxpayer dollars and puts the disastrous history of the previous administration’s use of zero tolerance and family separation behind us,” Jean said, “the president is perfectly comfortable with … settling with the individuals and families.”

The Journal reported that the potential payout to illegal immigrants is in response to those lawsuits filed by parents and children who claim the government subjected them to “lasting psychological trauma.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy declared the notion of paying those who broke the law to be “pure insanity.”

“It’s a slap in the face to our law-abiding citizens who wake up, go to work, and pay their taxes,” he said.
