Reason Has 12 Podium Finishes at the Southern California Journalism Awards – Opinion

Los Angeles Press Club hosted its Southern California Journalism Awards Gala this weekend. It was just like years ago. There are reasonsHardware was picked up. We were finalists Available in 15 categoriesHe was on the podium for twelve of them including two first-place finishes.

Without further ado,

ReasonTVQinling Li, contributor to “Meet the Trans Activists Fight for Sex Worker Freedom”, won first place in the category Gender and Society. Judges’ comment: “Strong, sympathetic look at a stigmatizing issue, and great storytelling through the featured activists—well done!”

Qinling Li’s report “The Reawakening of the Black Gun-Rights Movement”, was second in the category of political/national reporting.

Associate editor Christian Britschgi’s “Why Does Hollywood Hate Real Estate Developers?“, in over 1000 words, won the first prize for Culture/Arts. Judge’s comment: “Feels like one of those why-have-I-not-read-this-before stories, deeply researched, wittily argued and engagingly written.”

Jacob Grier contributed the “Coronavirus Cuisine“Was awarded third in the Pandemic Reporting category; Stephanie Slade, Managing Editor of “The New Nationalism is to be Resisted” was awarded second in the category Commentary magazine; Editor in Chief Katherine ManguWard placed third in Columnist magazine.

Remy and Meredith Bragg won second place in the broadcast category Humor/Satire writing.

Paul Detrick Senior Video Producer, won second place in category Solutions Journalism for “Hospital Technicians ignore Copyright Law to Fight CoVID-19”

Detrick’s film “OnlyFans Don’t Save Sex Workers. Sex Workers Saved Theirselves” came in third place under the category Documentary Shorts, Under 25 Minutes.

By ReasonTVJim Epstein, Executive Editor and Claudia Murray were awarded second-place honors for their contribution to the category Immigration Reporting.
