Trump Calls for DOJ to Re-Open Investigation Into Ashli Babbitt’s Killing During Texas Rally in Her Honor

Donald Trump, former President of the United States, wished Ashli Bambitt a Happy Birthday and asked for the Department of Justice’s reopening of the inquiry into the death of her at a Texas rally held in her memory.

In a video message played at the rally, Trump also said that he offers his “unwavering support” to her family and said that there was “no reason” she should have lost her life.

“I offer my unwavering support to Ashli’s family— And call on the DOJ to re-open the investigation into her death on January 6th.”

Babbitt’s killer, Lt. Michael Byrd broke his silence and confirmed his identity with an on-camera interview with MSNBC in August. The Capitol Police previously refused to confirm the shooter’s name, even though it was reported all over the right-wing media, including by the Gateway Pundit.

During his MSNBC appearance, Byrd said that he saved “countless lives” by killing Babbitt, who was unarmed. The Air Force veteran had also been complaining that Byrd has received death threats after his killing. The officer said that it was “disheartening” and that he was simply “doing my job.”

He complained about how he was scared and threatened by death after killing her.

The DOJ declined to bring him before a court.

Babbitt’s husband responded to Byrd in an appearance on Tucker Carlson, saying that the officer needs to “suck it up.”

“I don’t even want to hear him talk about how he’s getting death threats and he’s scared,” Aaron Babbitt said. “I’ve been getting death threats since Jan. 7 — two, three, five, 10 a day — and all I did on Jan. 6 was become a widower. So, you’re going to have to suck it up, bud, and take it.”

Trump stated that Trump’s death would be treated differently if she was protesting from the opposite side of the issue during a rally held in July.

“If that were on the other side, the person that did the shooting would be strung up and hung,” Trump said.
