The agreement was criticized by former president Donald Trump, who released a statement Wednesday criticizing Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell (R.KY). Democrats can raise the debt limit through reconciliation, even though Republicans have been telling Democrats for months that they will not support it.
“Looks like Mitch McConnell is folding to the Democrats, again. He’s got all of the cards with the debt ceiling, it’s time to play the hand. Don’t let them destroy our Country!” said Trump.
Britt responded with the following statement
“I agree with President Trump. The ball was totally in Democrats’ court to raise the debt ceiling themselves, and Republicans should have made them own the issue instead of bailing them out. Democrats want to alter the fabric of America and pass their $3.5 trillion spending spree without one GOP vote. Republicans shouldn’t help Democrats raise the debt limit if they want to keep recklessly increasing our national debt by an unprecedented pace. As Alabama’s next U.S Senator, I will never back down when fighting to protect our Christian conservative values and to save the country we know and love.”
Britt is running as a Republican to be next U.S. Senator. Alabama senator. Katie, a native from Coffee County, married Wesley from Cullman County. Their two children Ridgeway and Bennett now live with them in Montgomery.
