Don’t Say That –

Simon Sillwood was sentenced by a British court to eight weeks imprisonment for online racism. He had been abused as a West Bromwich Albion player. Sillwood is a big fan of the team but was disappointed after they lost to Manchester City. On a Facebook page, he suggested that Romaine Sawyers (a black midfielder) should be awarded the “Baboon d’Or award.” This is a reference the Balloon d’Or trophy, which annually goes to the top soccer player. Sawyers stated to the court that he felt harassed, alarmed and disturbed after reading his post. Sillwood stated that he meant “buffoon”, however, he mispelled it as “bafoon” in his post. Autocorrect corrected it to “baboon”.
