Liberty Bank partners and contractor Walsh Construction will host a subcontracting meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Centerstone, 722 18th Ave.
Capitol Hill Housing entered a memorandum of understanding with Africatown,The Black Community Impact Alliance and self-sufficiency nonprofit Centerstone earlier this month, which will guide the construction and management of the six-story 115-unit affordable housing development at 2320 E. Union St., at 24th Avenue.
Among the MOU guidelines CHH is following, which are meant to empower the Central District’s black community, is a commitment to prioritizing local and minority hires for the project.
The women- and minority-owned businesses (WMBE) goal for the Liberty Bank project is a minimum 21 percent of the $12 million in subcontracting work estimated for construction. The total construction cost is estimated at $30 million.
The subcontracting meeting will address the scope of work for the project, the schedule, bid forms, wage rates, Section 3/low-income hiring and mentoring support services.
